High-Frequency Programmers Revolt Over Pay
Forbes reports high frequency trading programmers are increasingly turning into traders:
Computer jockeys setting up own shops in bids to make millions.
Another high-frequency programmer, who spoke on condition that his name not be used, quit two firms that he believed were underpaying him. He says one group was generating $100,000 a day from his high-frequency trading software and paying him $150,000 a year. Will this be a new trend to keep an eye for? How many potential blowups will there be (aka Black Swans)? Will these new HFT shops create more market volatility? Just thinking out loud.

I saw a guy pounding the table about Hong Kong on CNBC this morning, and another guy who said that China was in a “Goldilocks” state. Amazing how they change their tune when the market goes up, eh?

Thought this was an interesting piece in the weekend WSJ China’s Ore Demand Flies Under the Radar
Basically Chinese ore import numbers are understated because they only include refined product. China has been importing low grade gold and copper ore and refining it in China (as well as buying scrap copper).
